Kids Adventures: Look Whats Happening this Weekend!!

This look pretty intense.  When I read all of the rules, I found that my shoulders were up at my ears.  I had to try to relax myself.  Don't get me wrong.., I LOVE BIKING, but these bikers.., they are seriously in shape and inspired to do this long trek. Starting from sea level in Vancouver, riders will head over Lions Gate Bridge and will then will end their journey at the Whistler Olympic Plaza.  Good luck to all the bikers and have a great day.., all you bystanders that are lucky enough to watch these amazing athletes.  I wish I could be here to see this incredible site.  Come out and cheer them on!!

2012 RBC Granfondo Whistler

Gran Fondo's are mass participation cycling events that have enjoyed incredible popularity in Europe for decades and are beginning to gain momentum in North America. The 2010 RBC GranFondo Whistler was the first world-class Gran Fondo in Canada.

Loosely translated from Italian, Gran Fondo means "big ride". Rides are often 100 km or more for a large number of cyclists at a variety of skill levels - everyone from the competitive cyclist to the amateur wanting to challenge themselves over distance and time enjoy these events. The rides are judged by the challenges they offer: steep climbs, long distances and a combination of the two. While these are not races, top finishers are often recognized.

Starting at sea level in Vancouver, riders will head over the Lions Gate Bridge in a dedicated lane on their way up to Whistler. Once over the bridge, riders will travel up Taylor Way to get onto the upper levels of Trans Canada Hwy with a right of way at all intersections. The journey then begins - and ends in Whistler at Olympic Plaza.
