The Right to Play

I don't know if anyone has recently watched the news and saw a segment on Baseball in Uganda. I am not a big fan when it comes to news, being sadly depressing, but when my husband came home from work he wanted me to see this...
Just this summer, the Uganda Little League Team team's hard work won them an all-expenses paid trip to the August 2011 World Series in Williamsport, PA., USA. Winning the Middle East/Africa Division for 11 and 12 year olds against Saudi Arabia in July, made them the first African team in history to compete in the Little League World Series! But 2 weeks before they were to play our team from Langley, BC, their visas were denied without reason.

With the help of Right to Play, Canadian Little League Team, Ruth Hoffman, and Jay Shapiro they want to make it right. Their goal is to raise $155,000 to support this project. But $75,000 of it must be raised before the end of this year. If the project does not succeed or if they receive any excess donations, then the proceeds will go towards Right to Play.

Watch this and mend some broken hearts. Also please watch the documentary coming out soon by Jay Shapiro called Opposite Field. Looks really good! Charitable Registration: 888804218RR0001 and all donation over $20 are eligible for a tax receipt. As of today, we've acheived $26,450.00 CAD (17%)!
