About Me: Old Time Christmas.

The other night we sat around the Christmas tree with a cup of hot coco and a splash of baileys. We were listening to my mom and friends talk about Christmas in the old days. There was talk about how all the relatives would try to come home for the holidays (some of them arriving by horse and buggy.) Everyone who arrived would bring all kinds of food and gifts to share.

Look at the display in the window. I wonder what these kids were wishing for?

This is not my family - I just love this photo. We had one of those tall lamps in the back ground and the encyclopedia with the case. Tinsel, the best and the worst job ever! I can remember being told by my parents to hang one tinsel at a time (no clumping) - a tedious job, but in the end we all loved how it looked.  Picture was taken in 1950's

This picture was taken in the  1960. Such a lady. What do you think.., do you think this lady put this tree tree up while wearing a dress?  I bet she did. I stopped using tinsel years ago, I couldn't stand how the tinsel would "grab me" as I walked by the tree and then I would spend 10 minutes trying to put it back on the tree. Nightmare! Do you remember the tinsel and Are you still using it today?

Here is tinsel you will love....

  1. Hi Pam, I still use tinsel and it is extremely messy, but I'm so into traditions. LOL Merry Christmas to you and your family.
