About Me: Winter Comforts

The smell of wood burning on a cold winter night has got to be the best!
We have had our outdoor fireplace for 2 years now and this was the first night that we put the rack inside and thought.., for fun we'd cook something simple.., Do you want to see what it is...

About Me: Me time.

Lets face it, moms have very busy lives with balancing the books, juggling the kids and their activities, cleaning the house and on top of it all some of us hold down another job.  Life can sometimes be mundane or out of control. It's really easy to fall into that guilt trap of thinking, if we take a break from our day we won't have time to - empty the dishwasher, picked up the toys or put a load of laundry on.... really?... so what!! The best advice my Mother-in-law ever gave me was, "don't try to be a people pleaser." Live for you. A cluttered house won't terninate true friendships. These household jobs will be there tomorrow and maybe even for the next week. For sanity sake.., take the opportunity to fit in some  ME TIME.  Here are some of my ideas for me time....

About Me: Old Time Christmas.

The other night we sat around the Christmas tree with a cup of hot coco and a splash of baileys. We were listening to my mom and friends talk about Christmas in the old days. There was talk about how all the relatives would try to come home for the holidays (some of them arriving by horse and buggy.) Everyone who arrived would bring all kinds of food and gifts to share.

Look at the display in the window. I wonder what these kids were wishing for?

Tot Talk: KIds and Grocery Stores

People have lots of pet peeves about grocery stores but screaming kids seem to be the biggest complaint. Kids screaming at the top of their lungs, crying until they get what they want, to full lay down and kick tantrums. For a parent this can be absolutely exhausting and sometime embarrassing. My twin boys did the full floor melt-down in the mild of the aisle - one time and one time only. Just getting kids ready to go out grocery shopping is stressful and yes, hiring a sitter would be easier, but trying to find one isn't.

Here are my tips for a smooth day at the grocery store experience.

I'm finally getting organized...

I don't know about you, but I have projects that have been collecting dust for the past 5 maybe
10 years. I think it's about time for me to get caught up with some of these project, so I called up
a few girlfriends (who have the same problem that I have), I brought in some organic tea and
cooked up an apply.

Each person brought one project over to the house to work on. Here's what we did...
